The new year is here and that means it’s time for me to create some new goals. Travel goals to be specific. The dream would be to pack my bags and set off tomorrow morning on a global trip lasting years. Let’s be realistic though, I have to return to my 9-5 job on Monday morning in order to save up money
and pay off the debt from living in London. One day in the not so distant future my global getaway will happen. 2018 however, will have smaller trips on it’s agenda.
March: Mount Snowdon
The highest point in the British Isles (not including the Scottish Highlands) will be mine this year. After wanting to climb Mount Snowdon, Wales for a few years now, this is finally the year we’ll climb to the 1,085m summit. I’m really looking forward to this one as it’ll be an achievement to reach the top by foot.
Though we visited Budapest in the summer of 2016, during an Interrail trip, I am beyond buzzin’ to revisit the beautiful Hungarian city. In April we’ll be going with two of our uni pals for five nights. It’ll be so good to go away with some friends, especially as we don’t get to see them all that often now. I’m fairly sure this trip will involve a good mix of relaxation, alcohol and eating (more than) our weights in vegan food.
June: Penzance, Cornwall
I’m not entirely sure this trip will actually happen, but it’s most definitely a goal I’d like to make happen. There’s something magical about Cornwall and I really really want to experience it. On the wish list would be visiting St Michael’s Mount, Land’s End and the quaint little town of St Ives.
July: European Weekend Break (Destination Unknown)
This could potentially be the biggest holiday I’ll have ever been on, in terms of the number of people going. It’ll be in celebration of Niamh’s Mum’s *0th Birthday and the destination has yet to be decided. I imagine this break will be somewhere hot and sunny, though.
We’d actually planned to do a two week road trip of Portugal last year, but the move from London to Birmingham didn’t leave us with a lot of spare money for a summer hol. So, we’ve planned to do it this September! We’ll most likely fly into Porto (cheap flights) and hire a car to visit places such as Lisbon, Evora and a couple of national parks. I cannot wait to have the Portugal sun beaming down on my back as we explore this beautiful country.
So there you have it, my travel goals for 2018. Now I just have to make sure they all happen! Let me know your travel goals for 2018 in the comments!
